Support for the Feeding Program:
The students are provided a good portion of rice and beans for lunch, often supplemented witn fresh vegetables from the school garden.
Support for the Teachers’ Salaries and School Supplies:
The teachers receive an average of $1,580US for the entire school year.
Funding the Home Economics Program for Young Women:
The women receive practical lessons in cooking, sewing, hygiene, and other homemaking skills.
Installation and Maintenance of the Solar Electric Systems for the Rectory/Church and the Convent:
These systems provide limited power to the rectory, church, convent and one classroom.
Internet Service:
The Haiti Project has provided the funds for the equipment necessary for Internet service. In addition, the service is provided by Starlink, and the monthly fee is also paid for by a parishioner.
Purchase of 2, 4-Wheel Drive Vehicles, 10 years apart:
The truck carries people and supplies to a a “Base Camp” from which a two+ mile trail leads to the school. The cost was split between the Haiti Project and a grant from a German Foundation.
Purchase of Solar Powered Lanterns:
There is virtually no electricity outside of the St. Elizabeth of Hungary compound. The Haiti Project purchased “Luci Lights” (small, portable, solar powered lights) to allow teachers and students to work on lessons after dark.
Purchase of Rain Barrels for Drinking Water:
Over 30, 55 gallon plastic rain barrels, purchased in Haiti, were distributed to various areas in the church compound and to parishioners to collect rain water for school and household use:
